APPLYING AS AN OUT OF PROVINCE OPTICIAN

To register at NSCDO as an out of province Optician you are required to submit the following to the registrar:

1. Letter of Good Standing from the regulating college our are currently registered with.
2. The completed Out of Province application which includes Certificate of Employer for employment verification.
3. Proof of liability insurance for at least one million dollars.
4. In Nova Scotia there is no fee to transfer your license.

The above requirements can be submitted via email or using Canada Post along with a completed Application for Out of Province (download PDF file).

Alternatively, requirements can be dropped off at the above address.

When all requirements are received, the applicate can expect a response or issue of a license within 3 to 5 business days.

Annual renewal of the issued license is required in March of each year at which time Continuing Education Credits are required, 8 for Dispensing Opticians and 10 for Contact Lens Fitters.
